Arts Programs

For the school years 2001-2003 Forestville Union School District has received a grant from the California Arts Council to produce an "Arts Demonstration Project". This Arts Demonstration Project provides an opportunity for ten school districts to send teachers to observe Forestville School's music, drama, and visual arts programs. Participating teachers for ten other school districts attend hands-on workshops, create curriculum using California Department of Education State Standards for Visual and Performing Arts, and in March produce a group show of student art with curriculum ideas. Also provided by the California Arts Council Grant was funding for the initial creation for this web site to inform the public about Forestville School's arts programs.
In the years 1992-2000 Forestville School has enhanced arts curriculum with artists-in-residences programs in drama and art funded by grants from the California Arts Council. Due to California budget cutbacks in 2004, The California Arts Council cannot provide the vital artist-in-residence programs and other outreach programs throughout the State.
Forestville School thanks the California Arts Council for all the arts enrichment that they have provided to our school community and cultural arts throughout the state. For more information about the California Arts Councils programs visit www.cac.ca.gov/programs//artsed.cfm. Because of the emphasis on the arts, Forestville School applied for and has received the recognition of Honorable Mention from the California School Recognition Program Award, an award that notes that arts education is an integral part of this district's basic educational program.
